As a volunteer-directed, not-for-profit agency, Gymnastics Newfoundland & Labrador functions under the guidance of an elected Board of Directors. GNL's Board of Directors has up to ten members who are elected by the GNL membership on a two year term at the Annual General Meeting.
GNL’s board is a strategic board and focuses on a number of key areas each year:
- to regularly review the direction of the organization by assessing the long range plan as set out in the strategic plan
- to establish policies that ensure implementation of the strategic plan
- to determine the financial needs of the organization and to determine the investment policy of such funds
- to provide direction to the Provincial Office for organizational objectives
- to ensure appropriate resources are in place to meet the needs of the organization
- to prepare and approve the annual budget for presentation at the AGM
- to maintain continuity in the organization by establishing appropriate operational structures with the appropriate lines of responsibility, authority and accountability
- to meet monthly, and more frequently as needed
- to establish an Executive Committee that will be available to the Provincial Office for review of matters that must be dealt with between Board meetings
- work closely with staff to deliver the objectives and high quality services and programs to our membership and participants.
